The Silentnight mattress selection
If you’ve ever started browsing through the Silentnight online mattress shop, you were likely left feeling completely overwhelmed.
The store offers a massive selection of mattresses, including pocket memory mattresses, ortho mattresses, pillow-top mattresses, spring system mattresses, and eco-friendly mattresses.
Silentnight is popular for budget and discount mattresses, but also has a few more luxury products available.
So, how do you navigate this space and begin making sense of the vast selection of Silentnight mattresses?
Luckily, we’re here to help you. 🎉
Silentnight mattresses can be divided into either material or special collections.
Each collection boasts several mattresses made from a variety of different materials, so let’s look at the materials first.
Silentnight mattress materials
The list below is not exhaustive as Silentnight offers mattresses in dozens of different materials, including latex, wool, natural fillings, and Geltex.
But, most of the mattresses belong to one of three main categories:
- Mirapocket mattresses
- Miracoil mattresses
- Memory foam mattresses
Let’s look at these in a little more detail. 👇
Silentnight Mirapocket mattresses
Mirapocket may sound perplexing, but this is simply the term Silentnight uses for its own pocket spring mattresses.
Pocket spring mattresses are among the most popular mattresses in the UK.
And rightly so - these are very comfortable. 😴
Springs are all housed in individual fabric pockets, which allows them to respond independently of each other.
This helps spread weight evenly across the mattress, providing good pressure distribution, pressure relief, comfort, and support.
The Silentnight Mirapocket system is also known for its superior edge-to-edge support.
This means that Mirapocket mattresses will support you right up to the edge of the mattress, and you won’t have that feeling of falling off the sides.
Pocket-sprung mattresses are great for dozens of people of all ages, shapes, and sizes.
Silentnight Miracoil mattresses
Like Mirapocket, Silentnight Miracoil is simply a brand-specific term.
It is used to describe the Silentnight coil spring mattresses.
Miracoil mattresses rely on an open coil spring system with a continuous length of wire shaped into a series of interwoven springs.
Unlike most open coil systems, though, Silentnight links these vertically rather than horizontally.
This helps with better spinal alignment, maximises the sleeping space, and allows for less partner disturbance, making the Miracoil system ideal for couples. 👩❤️👨
Miracoil mattresses are generally cheaper spring mattresses, and they’re great for spare rooms or occasional use.
Silentnight memory foam mattresses
In addition to the spring mattresses, Silentnight also offers a range of memory foam mattresses.
Memory foam allows for superior body adaptability, making it a popular choice for orthopaedic mattresses.
Silentnight memory mattresses are available in both budget and premium versions.
Silentnight mattresses by collection
Most Silentnight mattresses will feature one of the above-mentioned materials.
These are then further divided into different mattress ranges or mattress collections.
Let’s take a closer look at these. 🧐
Silentnight Just Sleep range
The Just Sleep range consists of mattresses that are delivered compressed, rolled-up, and vacuum-packed.
These are most comparable to the other bed-in-a-box mattresses we feature on Sleep Hero, like the Emma Original or the Nectar Memory Foam mattress.
The Silentnight Just Sleep mattresses are available in all-foam or hybrid versions and in various firmness levels.
Silentnight Eco Comfort range
The Silentnight Eco Comfort collection features traditional Miracoil or Mirapocket sprung mattresses, with fillings made from recycled plastic bottles.
Silentnight, as a whole, has placed an enormous emphasis on sustainability. 🌱
The Eco Comfort range is one of the ways in which they help combat waste, as each mattress is made of 150 plastic bottles.
Eco Comfort mattresses are available in a variety of different firmness levels.
Silentnight Geltex range
The Silentnight Geltex mattress range features advanced hybrid mattresses designed to be more breathable. 💨
Enhanced breathability keeps you cooler and more comfortable, so these are a great option if you easily feel hot at night.
Geltex also offers a slightly different feel to memory foam.
It’s more latex-like, with a subtle bounce, but an overall firmer sleeping surface.
You also won’t get that full body contouring of memory foam, making the Geltex mattresses easier to move around on while still offering good pressure point relief.
Silentnight Essentials range
The Essentials collection features budget Miracoil and Mirapocket spring mattresses.
These are good options for people with a low budget, though we would highly recommend investing a little more to purchase a higher-quality mattress.
After all, the quality of your mattress directly affects the quality of your sleep, your health, and your overall life.
Are Silentnight mattresses any good?
It’s impossible to give one standard answer to describe the suitability or comfort of Silentnight mattresses.
This is simply because there are so many Silentnight mattresses available.
That said, most Silentnight customer reviews are favourable.
After all, the company has spent the last 70 years building up a reputation as the UK’s most trusted bed brand.
If you grew up in the UK, you’d undoubtedly recognise their logo with the hippo in the blue-and-white striped pyjamas and his little yellow duck.🐥
Most Silentnight customers seem to find their mattresses quite comfortable, though there have also been complaints about the quality of the lower-height, more affordable models.
You shouldn’t expect a long lifespan, though.
Silentnight products aren’t the most durable on the market, and most mattresses are only guaranteed for 5 years.
Who are Silentnight mattresses suitable for?
Silentnight’s main target customer is your average middle-income family.
If you’re looking for a good quality, trusted mattress that won’t break the bank, Silentnight is a good option to consider.
Silentnight mattresses can also be recommended to couples, babies, kids, and the elderly.
A good choice for couples
Most of the Silentnight Mirapocket mattresses have low motion isolation and offer good pressure distribution across the width of the mattress.
These mattresses also have exceptional edge support that gives you the same firmness at the very edge of the mattress as in the centre.
These two features make the Silentnight mattresses well-suited to couples as you can make use of the entire width of the mattress and not feel your partner toss and turn at night.
A good choice for the elderly
The exceptional edge support is also particularly good for the elderly, who may need a moment or two sitting on the edge of the bed before getting up.
Most Silentnight mattresses are also very thick and above 30 cm (11.8 inches) in height.
This is particularly good for the elderly as it makes getting in and out of bed much easier - and less painful on the joints.
A safe choice for children
Silentnight is also a respected manufacturer of mattresses for little ones.
- Cot mattresses fall under the Safe Nights range.
- Kids’ mattresses fall under the Healthy Growth range.
Silentnight’s stringent health and safety checks ensure that their baby and kids’ mattresses are of excellent quality - and good for your little one.
Below, we answer some of the most important questions when it comes to Silentnight kids’ and cot mattresses.
Are Silentnight cot mattress health & safety certified?
All Silentnight kids’ mattresses are hypoallergenic and hand-crafted in the UK.
In addition, they:
- Are free from foam and chemical treatments
- Are approved by Allergy UK [5] [1]
- Are made from sustainable materials
- Offer enhanced breathability
- Come with machine-washable covers
The Safe Nights mattresses have also received awards from Loved By Parents, Mother & Baby, and Mum.
What cot mattress sizes does Silentnight sell?
Both baby and kids’ mattresses are available in a range of sizes.
Baby mattresses come in the standard 60 x 120 cm (23 inches x 47 inches) and 70 x 140 cm (27 inches x 50 inches) sizes.
Kids’ mattresses are available in toddler, shorty, small single, single, small double, and double sizes.
What are the Silentnight cot mattress prices?
Cot mattresses are available at a range of prices to meet every budget.
Does Silentnight stock cot mattress accessories?
In addition to the mattresses, Silentnight offers some cot bed accessories, including duvet covers, baby sleep bags, fitted sheets, and kids' bed frames.
Who would Silentnight mattresses not be suitable for?
While Silentnight offers a fantastic range of beds, they’re typically aimed at middle-income customers looking for decent mattresses that won't break the bank.
If you’re looking for a top-end product, other mattress brands would probably be more suitable.
You could look at the best-selling Simba Hybrid or the luxurious DreamCloud mattress to start.
Most Silentnight mattresses also only come with a 5-year guarantee. 😟
That’s not to say the mattress will deteriorate rapidly after 5 years, though there have been numerous customer reviews lamenting the durability of the materials.
The exception here is the Just Sleep range, which comes with a fantastic 365-night trial period and a 10-year guarantee.
You could also consider other budget-friendly mattress recommendations, all of which offer fantastic trials and guarantees.
High-quality budget-friendly mattresses:
Silentnight mattress covers
Each Silentnight mattress is slightly different, but Silentnight mattress covers are generally not removable.
Many of them are treated with Purotex [2], though, which reduces moisture and dust-mite allergens.
This also makes many of the Silentnight mattresses hypoallergenic choices [3] that are great for people prone to allergies. 🤧
To safeguard your mattress against dirt, stains, spills, and bacteria, we highly recommend investing in a mattress protector.
Our favourite mattress protectors:
Silentnight mattress certifications
Silentnight not only pays attention to the safety of products but also focuses on sustainability and aims to reduce any environmental impact. 🌿
In 2017, they were even awarded the Furniture Maker’s Company Sustainability Award [4].
Let's take a closer look at some of Silentnight's safety and sustainability practices.
Safety and quality checks
All Silentnight products undergo vigorous safety and quality checks. 👩🔬
You can rest assured that your Silentnight mattress has been checked for flammability compliance, cleanliness, and chemical safety.
A carbon-neutral organisation
Silentnight has pledged to be a carbon-neutral organisation, aiming to reduce waste and not contribute towards landfills.
90% of the waste generated across manufacturing sites is recycled. ♻️
Waste is diverted away from landfills, and more sustainable uses are encouraged.
Foam from recycled mattresses, for example, is re-used for kids’ playmats, and comfort fillings are repurposed for protective clothing.
Supporting marine life
Silentnight has also partnered with the Marine Conservation Society [5].
They not only donate money to protect marine life, but staff also take part in regular nationwide beach clean-ups. 🐟
Most impressively, though, Silentnight launched the Eco Comfort mattress range and has since helped prevent over 105 million plastic bottles from entering the ocean and landfill sites.
The Eco Comfort range of mattresses is made from plastic bottles that are shaved down and turned into a soft, comfortable material.
What else does Silentnight offer?
In addition to the mattresses, Silentnight also offers a host of other mattress and sleep accessories.
- A large selection of beds, including divan beds, wooden bed frames, and upholstered bed frames.
- Pillows made from a variety of materials and designed for different purposes, including anti-snore pillows, body support pillows, and V-shape support pillows.
- Bed linen, including duvet covers, pillowcases, and fitted sheets.
- Duvets and blankets.
- Different mattress protectors and pillow protectors.
- A variety of mattress toppers.
We’ve included a selection of some of our favourite Silentnight sleep accessories below. 👇

Silentnight mattress delivery conditions
Silentnight delivers all its mattresses free of charge to any location within mainland UK and Northern Ireland. 🇬🇧
The delivery conditions of your Silentnight mattress will depend on the type of mattress you’ve purchased.
Rolled mattresses
If you’ve opted for one of the rolled mattresses, your mattress will be delivered compressed, rolled up, and vacuum-packed, much like standard bed-in-a-box mattresses. 📦
These are delivered to the front door of your building.
Rolled-up mattresses are delivered within 24 hours.
That’s a remarkable turnaround time.
Most standard bed-in-a-box brands, like Simba or Eve, need at least 1 - 3 business days for delivery, though next-day delivery options are also available. ⏰
If you’re urgently looking for a mattress and need one delivered as soon as possible, then Silentnight is the way to go.
Because they’re compressed, one person can easily carry a rolled-up mattress - though this does depend on the size of the mattress ordered!
How to unpack vacuum-sealed mattresses
To use, simply place the mattress on top of your bed base and unwrap it.
Once the vacuum seal has been removed, these mattresses will slowly inflate back to their original size.
You may notice some off-gassing, which is a chemical odour associated with compressed mattresses.
This is completely normal and not harmful in any way. 😅
The smell may be a little unpleasant, though, so we’d recommend unpacking your new mattress in a well-ventilated room.
The smell should dissipate quite quickly.
Two-man delivery
All other Silentnight mattresses come with a standard two-man delivery service, where your chosen mattress is delivered straight to the room of your choice. 🏡
All Silentnight beds and mattresses are handmade to order, so it can take anything from 14 days to 5 weeks before they’re delivered.
Silentnight mattress trial period
Silentnight mattresses come with one of two trial periods:
- The Just Sleep range comes with a 365-night trial period
- All other mattresses come with the Silentnight 60-night comfort guarantee
This trial gives you the chance to try out the mattress in the comfort of your own home to see if you really like it.
But there is a catch.
While other trial periods offer you a money-back guarantee, this is not the case with Silentnight.
If you’re not happy with your purchase, you can only exchange the product for another one.
There are also some costs involved as the customer will have to pay for additional delivery costs and removal of the original product.
If you want to exchange for a higher-priced mattress, you’ll also need to pay the difference. 💷
Additional charges, no refunds, and basic complications make life more troublesome - and who needs more stress in life?
We cannot overemphasise the importance of a good trial period, which is why we'd encourage you to opt for a mattress with a longer (and risk-free) trial period instead.
Budget-friendly mattresses with great trial periods:

- People who care about the environment (if you opt for the Eco Comfort range)
