Here’s how to approach washing silk:
- Firstly, you should always check the care label on your LilySilk product. This will give you specific washing instructions that you should follow to maintain the quality and longevity of the product.
- In general, it’s recommended to hand-wash silk items in cold water.
- If using a washing machine, ensure it’s on the delicate or hand-wash cycle.
- Avoid using harsh detergents that contain bleaches or brighteners. Instead, opt for a mild detergent, ideally one specifically designed for silk.
- Never wring out your silk items to dry. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water and lay the item flat on a clean, dry towel. Roll up the towel with the silk item inside to help absorb more water, then unroll and leave the item to dry naturally.
- If your product needs to be ironed, only ever iron very gently on cold to avoid damaging the silk.
Silk should not be exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this can cause fading and damage the material. ☀️
Similarly, avoid drying silk near heat sources like radiators, as this can cause the silk to dry out and become brittle.
Silk also shouldn’t be tumble-dried as the heat and friction can damage the delicate fibres. 🔥

LilySilk offers standard shipping across the UK, typically with a swift turnaround between 6 - 8 business days. 🚛
Most items qualify for free delivery, but there is a minimum order value in place.
Once shipped, you’ll receive an e-mail with your order number and tracking information.
Since LilySilk ships directly from China, you may, in some instances, incur additional customs or import duty costs.
If you do incur any extra charge, you can contact the LilySilk support team at support@lilysilk.zendesk.com with a copy of the customs duties receipt, and they will issue you a refund of that amount within 3 - 5 working days.
