The fibres have been tested against harmful substances that go above and beyond the national requirements for safety.
Waterproof layer
One of the key features of the DreamCloud mattress protector is its waterproof abilities. 🤯
The polyurethane film layer is impenetrable to liquids. ☔
This material has been used for years for outdoor wear, shoe soles, car parts and building insulation.
Why is a waterproof mattress protector so important?
A waterproof mattress protector offers the best protection available.
We performed some tests to see how protective the DreamCloud mattress protector was, which we’ll get into later. 🧐
A waterproof mattress protector shields the bed from accidents such as urine, menstrual fluid, spilt food and drinks, makeup, fake tan and accidents caused by children and pets. 👶🐱
But that’s not all. 🤔
The human body isn’t the most hygienic, and over time your mattress will be exposed to all kinds of bodily fluids.
A mattress protector will protect your mattress from moisture and bacteria build-up, keeping it in a new condition for as long as possible. 🙌
Polyester skirting
The 100% polyester skirting around the edge of the DreamCloud mattress protector was another useful feature.
The waterproof layer was on top of the mattress, with the sides of the mattress protector in a stretchy polyester fabric. 😍
This made it super easy to dress the bed as the material was flexible and fit right over the entire mattress.
We loved how the mattress protector looked like a fitted sheet, making it a highly discreet choice. 🤫

What happened when we put the DreamCloud mattress protector through our sleep test?
What does sleeping on the DreamCloud mattress protector feel like?
Overall, the DreamCloud mattress protector gets 10/10 for functionality and comfort. ✔️
It felt like we weren’t even using a mattress cover because it was so quiet and comfortable, providing the most non-disruptive sleep and protection.
Soft and silky feel
The DreamCloud mattress protector is soft-to-the-touch. ☁️
It has a soft and silky feel similar to the texture of cotton.
Even though we used DreamCloud sheets over the top of the mattress protector, we felt as if we could have slept just on the protector itself. 🤗
Completely noiseless for zero disturbance
Some waterproof mattress protectors tend to be a bit noisy. 🙁
Often the polyurethane waterproof layer can create a crinkly sound that can be disruptive during the night.
From our testing, the DreamCloud mattress protector was utterly noise-free. 🙌
We moved around on the mattress as much as possible to see how well this worked.
But we experienced no sound at all from the DreamCloud mattress protector. 👌
Not only that, but the mattress protector stayed fitted to the mattress throughout the night.
Cool and comfortable
Some people might be concerned about the breathability of a mattress protector with a plastic layer. 🥵
However, we felt the DreamCloud mattress protector was highly breathable.
The Tencel fibres absorb moisture and allow natural airflow throughout the night. 🌬️
We tested the mattress protector on the Simba Hybrid and the DreamCloud mattress, which aren’t known for being the coolest mattress options. 🧐
However, we felt the DreamCloud mattress protector provided a much cooler sleep than our regular mattress protector. ❄️
Our old mattress protector is made with thick synthetic fibres, creating a warmer sleep that doesn't promote great airflow.
It’s also not waterproof, meaning that our mattress protection was previously not fully protected.
Fully waterproof layer
It was important to ensure the DreamCloud mattress protector lived up to expectations.
We poured some water over the mattress protector and left it for a few minutes. 🥛
As you can see, the DreamCloud mattress stayed completely dry! 🤯
We were impressed with how well the DreamCloud mattress protector kept out the liquid.
After several months of testing, our mattress still looks as new as the first day we got it. 😍
How to clean a mattress protector
Mattress protectors are typically always machine-washable.
Fortunately, the DreamCloud mattress protector can be washed up to 90°C. 🌡️
This high temperature means you can kill bacteria that may have built up and ensure a complete clean.
Pop the DreamCloud mattress protector in the washing machine with your other bedding. 🧼
We recommend washing between 40 - 60°C with your regular laundry detergent.
For any accidents, wash at 90°C as soon as possible to prevent permanent stains.
Can I tumble dry waterproof mattress protectors?
Unfortunately, the mattress protector is not safe for the tumble dryer. 🙁
Tumble-drying the DreamCloud mattress protector can damage the waterproof layer by coming into contact with the hot drum.
Instead, let the DreamCloud mattress protector air dry naturally before placing it back onto your mattress. 🌬️
Waterproof mattress protectors can take hours to dry, so it’s often good to invest in two mattress protectors, so you have a spare.
DreamCloud mattress protector sizes
The DreamCloud mattress protector comes in standard UK mattress sizes.
The DreamCloud mattress protector is not currently available in a small single or small double size.
However, it includes:
- Single DreamCloud mattress protector - 90 x 190 x 32 cm (3' x 6'3" x 1'4")
- Double DreamCloud mattress protector - 135 x 190 x 32 cm (4'6" x 6'3 x 1'4")

Does DreamCloud sleep cool?
DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress with a pocketed coil system and a top layer of memory foam.
As memory foam is not the coolest material, we do not recommend the DreamCloud mattress for hot sleepers.
For a cooler sleep on the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid, we recommend using the mattress on a box spring base or a slatted bed frame.
This will ensure the mattress is well ventilated to disperse heat during the night.

Can you wash a DreamCloud mattress cover?
A DreamCloud mattress protector is fully machine-washable at 90°C.
However, you should never tumble-dry this protector as you risk damaging the waterproof layer.
Instead, let the DreamCloud mattress protector air-dry before returning it to the bed.
