😴 One of the most comfortable mattresses we've ever tested.

Who is the Nectar mattress most suitable for?

The Nectar is one of the most comfortable mattresses we've ever slept on. 😴

That's saying a lot!

Nectar Sleep is actually owned by the same company that produces the more premium DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid mattress.

With the Nectar, it's almost as if you're getting the premium product for a much better price!

Of course, there are significant differences between the DreamCloud and Nectar mattresses. The DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress that combines foams and pocket springs.
If you like hybrids, you could also check out our Nectar Hybrid mattress review.

Even though the Nectar is an excellent mattress for a wide variety of sleepers, it won't be the best choice for all.

Nectar mattress foams
The Nectar is a high-quality foam mattress.

The Nectar mattress is most suitable for:

  • Average-weight sleepers in any sleeping position.
  • Heavier-weight side sleepers.
  • Couples (the mattress has very low motion transfer).

The Nectar mattress is less suitable for:

  • Heavier-weight stomach and back sleepers.
  • Lighter-weight people and children.
  • The elderly or people with physical disabilities (it's challenging to move as it doesn't have side handles).

We deep-dive into all these points further down. 👇

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

But, first, let's look at the composition of the Nectar mattress.

Nectar memory foam mattress composition

The Nectar is an all-foam mattress comprised of three high-density foam layers.

The Nectar mattress layers are:

  • Quilted cooling cover
  • Dynamic support layer
  • A pressure-relieving memory foam layer
  • 7-zone supportive base

All foams used in the Nectar mattress are Certipur-certified [1].

Nectar mattress foam layers

This means that they are free from any toxins or harmful chemicals. 🧪

We look at all Nectar Mattress UK certifications in more detail in the FAQ section of this article.

We'll expand upon the cooling cover further down.

For now, let's take an in-depth look at the Nectar mattress foam layers. 🧐

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Nectar mattress foam layers

1. Dynamic support layer (4 cm / 1.6 inches)

The top layer of the Nectar mattress is made of polyfoam.

Previous versions of the mattress had a "smart gel memory foam layer" as the top comfort layer. 👩‍🔬

The dynamic support foam was a transitional layer underneath.

In the UK, the polyfoam layer is at the very top.

This not only changes the way the mattress feels but also helps regulate body temperature better. 👍

Nectar mattress foam layers

2. Pressure-relieving memory foam (5 cm / 2 inches)

The second layer is made of high-quality memory foam.

Memory foam is known for its body-contouring comfort and ability to relieve pressure points.

This layer gives the mattress excellent orthopaedic properties and extra comfort.

Foams layers of Nectar mattress
The three foam layers work together optimally.

3. 7-zone supportive cold foam base layer (16 cm / 6.3 inches)

The cold foam base layer provides support and stability.

It is divided into seven comfort zones.

These are designed to give your body the proper support exactly where it needs it most to keep your spine in a healthy alignment. 🦴

How exactly does this work?

The contour zones allow the foams to:

  • Compress more in some areas (like the hips and shoulder zones, where you need more sinkage), and
  • compress less in others (like the head and feet, where you need more lift).

Healthy spinal alignment prevents back and shoulder pains. 👌

Nectar mattress firmness

The Nectar is often described as a medium-firm mattress.

But, we'd certainly rank it on the firmer end of the scale. 🧱

We've rated it at 7 out of 10 on the Sleep Hero firmness scale, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest.

Nectar mattress firmness

The firmer feel is due to the top polyfoam layer.

This will give you more of that "lying on top of the mattress" sensation than that "lying in a mattress" feel that's common with memory foam mattresses.

You'll get some sinkage from the middle layer of memory foam, but this won't be as pronounced as with other memory foam mattresses. 🥳

This also explains why the Nectar memory foam mattress feels more similar to hybrid mattresses, like the Simba Hybrid, than to other memory foam mattresses like the Emma Original.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Measuring sinkage depths

To give you a comprehensive Nectar mattress UK review, we wanted to rely on a bit of maths to help better explain the firmness and feel of the Nectar. 🧮

So we measured how deep we sank into the foams in various sleep positions.

By measuring sinkage, you can estimate how supportive a mattress will be for different sleepers.

It also gives a good indication of overall firmness.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Nectar mattress sinkage test
The foams will sink in quite a bit with enough pressure exerted.

We used two test sleepers for our Nectar mattress review and measured their sinkage depths in various positions.

We always measure at the same place:

  • If sleeping on the stomach, we measure at the stomach.
  • If sleeping on the side or back, we measure at the shoulders and hips.

This ensures fair & accurate results. 👩‍⚖️

Here are our findings:

Person A (1.75 m / 54 kg) Person B (1.78 m / 70 kg)
Sleeping on the back 4 cm (1.5 inches) 5 cm (1.9 inches)
Sleeping on the side 5 cm (1.9 inches) 5 cm (1.9 inches)
Sleeping on the stomach 4 cm (1.5 inches) 5 cm (1.9 inches)

As you can see, sinkage depths for different sleeping positions and body weights are very similar.

These values are standard for slightly firmer mattresses.

They also affirm the overall stability and support of the mattress.

Sinkage on Nectar mattress with ruler
Sinkage depths for the Nectar mattress UK are indicative of a medium-firm to firm mattress.

Neither of our test sleepers sank in too deeply. 👌

This means that the Nectar mattress can offer the right amount of support for average-weight sleepers, regardless of sleeping position.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Sinkage for side sleepers

You'll also notice that sinkage in the side position is a little more pronounced.

This suggests that even the lighter sleeper can sink in more deeply when sleeping on the side. 👩

The extra sinkage allows the hips and shoulders to drop down further and helps with optimal spinal alignment.

Despite the firm feel, the mattress offers enough sinkage to feel comfortable, no matter your sleeping position.

Side sleeper on Nectar mattress
Side sleepers will find the Nectar very comfortable.

Sinkage for back and front sleepers

It's interesting to note, though, that side sinkage depths were the same for both sleepers, but back and stomach sinkage depths increased with larger builds.

This is indicative of the fact that sinkage is likely to further increase as the weight of the sleeper increases. ⚖️

Heavier-weight back or stomach sleepers may find the Nectar memory foam mattress too soft.

nectar mattress back sleeper
The Nectar mattress is comfortable for average-weight back sleepers, but may be too soft for larger builds.

It also won't be able to support them as well.

We'd recommend people of larger builds opt for spring mattresses [2] instead, which are generally more supportive.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Average edge support

Edge support refers to the amount of support a mattress gives at the very edge. 🧗‍♂️

Ideally, support will be equal across the entire mattress.

But this is not always the case - especially with memory foam mattresses.

Edge support with the Nectar mattress is average. 🏔

Nectar mattress edge support
Edge support on the Nectar is average.

You won't get the feeling that you're sliding off the edge of the bed, but it won't give you as much edge support as a pocket sprung mattress or premium foam mattresses with extra reinforcements.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Average edge support isn't the worst thing in the world.

But, it can affect your purchasing decision.

This is especially true if you're sharing your bed with a partner - or if you often need a moment to sit on the side of your bed before getting up to start the day. ☕️

Nectar mattress edge support with person sitting
If sitting on the side of your bed is important, it's best to look for a mattress with better edge support.

If you're sharing your bed, you won't be able to rely on the entire length and width of the mattress.

This is why couples should buy a larger mattress, like the king Nectar mattress. 👑

A larger size will ensure that both you and your partner will have enough space to move comfortably.

If great edge support is non-negotiable, we'd recommend looking at pocket sprung or hybrid mattresses like the Otty Hybrid.

What does sleeping on the Nectar mattress feel like?

The Nectar mattress is one of the most comfortable mattresses we've tried.

It's the Goldilocks of mattresses. 👩

Not too firm, not too soft, but just right.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Nectar memory foam mattress
The Goldilocks of mattresses.

The Nectar mattress offers exceptional support to average-weight sleepers in any position.

It also offers good support for lighter-weight and average-weight stomach and back sleepers.

Is the Nectar mattress good for side sleepers?

We found the Nectar memory foam mattress most comfortable when sleeping on the side.

This may seem surprising for a firmer mattress. 😲

But the Nectar manages to introduce complementary layers:

  • It has a firm foundation that ensures your body is well supported.
  • It has softer upper layers that ensure your body can sink in where required.

This makes the Nectar mattress a perfect choice for side sleepers. 😃

Why?

Let's explore.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Nectar mattress spinal alignmnet
The Nectar mattress ensures optimal spinal alignment.

The heavier parts of your body, like the hips and shoulders, can sink into the softer foams.

But the lighter parts of your body, which exert less pressure on the mattress, will remain well supported.

This fine balance of sinkage and support ensures optimal spinal alignment.

Spinal alignment is vital in every sleeping position.

But this is even more so for side sleepers - primarily because it's more challenging to achieve. 🤯

Side sleeper on Nectar with pillow
Average-weight side sleepers will love the Nectar memory foam mattress.

A mattress that's too soft or too firm won't allow for spinal alignment.

This can result in severe lower back pain.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Is the Nectar mattress good for orthopaedic concerns?

The Nectar is a memory foam mattress.

It offers the typical memory effect - and even to a greater degree than some competitive brands!

What is the memory effect?

When pressure is applied to the foam, it will form an indent and stay in position for a short period before returning to its original shape.

This memory imprint gives a memory foam mattress its usual body-hugging comfort. 🤗

Take a look at the memory effect demonstrated in the images below:

Nectar memory foam layer

Hand on memory foam of Nectar

Memory imprint on Nectar mattress

This memory effect also makes memory foam mattresses an excellent orthopaedic choice.

Why?

Because the foam moulds so perfectly to your body, it provides good pressure relief and allows your muscles to relax.

This will help relieve aches and pains. 🥳

The Nectar isn't as soft or body-hugging as other memory foam mattresses (which is also why you can enjoy more firmness and why it's more suitable for restless sleepers).
However, it still offers enough of that contouring feel to aid its orthopaedic properties.

Good support for average & larger builds

We'd recommend the Nectar to people of average weight and size (under 90 kg / 198 lbs) who prefer a firmer mattress.

The mattress is also suited to heavier-weight sleepers - the Nectar can support over 290 kg (639 lbs)!

It can support heavier-weight side sleepers very well, who will sink in deeply enough for optimal spinal alignment.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Nectar mattress firmess
The mattress offers good support for average-weight sleepers.

But, heavier weight stomach and back sleepers may find that the mattress doesn't support them well enough.

Despite its firm foundation, this is still a memory foam mattress, after all.

The foams are designed to be soft and supportive.

In addition, memory foam tends to heat up during the night and become softer.

This means that support may decrease throughout the night as the foams become softer. 😕

Mattress firmness

Pocket sprung and hybrid mattresses generally offer better support than all-foam mattresses.

The Simba Hybrid is a suitable alternative. 👌

This mattress combines foams with pocket springs, so it's able to offer more support than an all-foam mattress.

Too firm for lighter-weight sleepers?

On the flip side, very light-weight sleepers may find the Nectar mattress a little too firm.

We also wouldn't recommend the Nectar for children. 🧒

Lighter-weight sleepers may not be heavy enough to sink into the foams sufficiently.

This can result in that uncomfortable "sleeping on a table" sensation and result in back pains.

However, according to customer reviews, a good mattress topper can quickly fix this problem and offer a softer upper layer.

There is no Nectar mattress topper available in the UK, so we've given you some of our favourite alternatives.

Mattress topper recommendations:

Good temperature regulation

Memory foam tends to retain more heat than other types of foam. 🥵

So, memory foam mattresses often feel hotter and clammier than standard foam mattresses.

But the top layer of the Nectar is designed to be more breathable and allow for better temperature regulation. ❄️

Temperature regulation scale

Combining this breathable memory foam with an adaptive cooling cover provides non-stop airflow.

Continuous airflow moves heat and moisture away from the body. 💨

This provides for a cooler and more comfortable sleep.

We didn't feel too hot or sweaty while sleeping on the mattress for our Nectar review.

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Nectar mattress cover
The adaptive cooling cover allows for increased airflow.

Not ideal for heavy sweaters

But:

We tested the mattress in winter, and we slept warmer than on a pocket sprung mattress.

If you feel hot quickly or sweat a lot, then a pocket sprung mattress may be a better choice for you.

These are generally much cooler. 🧊

pocket spring mattress breathability
Spring mattresses have natural ventilation channels and are much more breathable.

A hybrid mattress, which combines foam with springs, is also a good choice.

You could even try the Nectar Hybrid mattress, which combines the Nectar original foams with pocket springs.

If you prefer all-foam mattresses, we'd suggest making use of Nectar's trial period to see if it's cool enough for you.

Luckily, Nectar gives you a full 365 days to try out the mattress!

A good mattress for couples

When deciding on whether a mattress is good for couples, we look at motion transfer and edge support.

We've already looked at edge support above, which refers to the support at the side of the mattress.

But what is motion transfer?

low motion transfer benefits
A mattress with low motion transfer is great for couples.

In essence, motion transfer refers to the transfer of movement through a mattress. 🎾

A mattress with low motion transfer doesn't allow movement to be carried through.

This means it's improbable that you'll feel your partner toss and turn at night or wake up if they come to bed later than you.

The Nectar has low motion transfer, which is excellent for couples. 👩‍❤️‍👨

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

We didn't feel our partner come to bed after us at all.

Motion transfer
Sleeping is a breeze on a mattress with low motion transfer

But:

We occasionally felt our partner move on the bed during the night. 🤔

This wasn't the case with the Emma Original mattress.

It may be due to the upper support layer of the mattress.

But, the movements weren't severe enough to be uncomfortable.

We'd still recommend that couples choose a larger mattress size for optimal comfort, especially considering the lower edge support. 👌

couple in bed
Larger mattresses are best for couples.

Double mattresses may be the standard, but we'd recommend investing in a king-size bed or larger.

Nectar mattress cover

The Nectar mattress features an elegantly designed cover in neutral colours.

  • A white quilted moisture-wicking top cover (made of a Tencel cotton mix) with adaptive cooling that draws heat away from your body and allows for breathability and optimal airflow.
  • A grey meshed side cover that supports air circulation.
  • A non-slip positioning base layer that ensures your mattress remains in place.

We loved the quilted top cover - it's soft, thick, and luxurious. ✨

BUY NECTAR MATTRESS£ 349

Nectar mattress cover
The quilted top cover feels thick and luxurious.

Does the Nectar cover have side carrying handles?

Unfortunately, the Nectar mattress cover doesn't have any side handles. 😔

This makes the mattress a little more challenging to move around.

We also struggled a bit while changing our sheets, as we couldn't grab the mattress to lift it out of our bed frame.

A cover with side handles makes turning or carrying the mattress easier, which is very convenient.

Most bed-in-a-box mattresses, like the Simba Hybrid, have side handles.

Nectar memory foam mattress
The Nectar mattress doesn't have any side handles.

Can you wash the Nectar mattress cover?

While the mattress cover is removable, Nectar UK does not recommend machine-washing it. 🧺

This is because it is made of Tencel fibres, which are very delicate and may be damaged while washing.

We took off the cover to look at the foams, but it was pretty tricky to put it back on again.

So, we wouldn't recommend removing the Nectar mattress quilted cover.

The mattress is hypoallergenic [3], though, and unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.

Do not wash the Nectar mattress cover
You should not wash the Nectar mattress quilted cover.

You can spot-wash the cover if need be. 🧼

Nectar Sleep also recommends using a mattress protector to expand your mattress's lifespan and protect it from dirt, stains, and accidental spills.

Luckily, the Nectar mattress protector is a perfect fit and an affordable option.

UK mattress sizes

Nectar mattress depth

The Nectar memory foam mattress has a height of 25 cm (10 inches).

This is standard for bed-in-a-box mattresses, though you'll often find much thinner mattresses on the market.

They also look better on your bed frame. 🙃

Our Nectar memory foam mattress reviews have found that it's one of the most comfortable mattresses we've ever slept on.

What's great about the Nectar mattress is that it's a memory foam mattress, but it still feels a tad firmer than many other memory foam mattresses.

This makes it much more approachable to people who don't like soft mattresses.

  • Where are Nectar mattresses made?

As a global company, Nectar mattresses use components sourced from different countries.

However, all mattresses sold in the UK are manufactured in the UK

  • Has the Nectar mattress won any awards?

The Nectar mattress has already amassed a fair number of awards and accolades.

It's been recommended, among others, by:

    • Good Housekeeping Institute
    • The Independent
    • Real Homes
    • Expert Reviews
    • Ideal Home

The Nectar brand is much more established in the USA. 🇺🇸

There, institutions and press such as USA Today, Sleep Foundation, Slumber Search, Tuck Award, and Mattress Advisor have voted it the best mattress, best memory foam mattress, best bed-in-a-box mattress, or best mattress value-for-money mattress multiple times.

You'll also find thousands of Nectar mattress Trustpilot reviews with a total rating of 4.4.

    Nectar mattress Which? test results

The Nectar mattress has been recommended as a Which? [7] "great choice" with a total test score of 74%.

The mattress scored very well in terms of:

    • Support
    • Breathability
    • Motion isolation
    • Durability

It lost points for the lack of side handles and the resultant difficulty in rotating the mattress, as well as decreasing support for back sleepers after an extended period of time.

  • Nectar mattress UK certifications & sustainability efforts

    Nectar Sleep puts sustainability first.

It's one of the most durable and environmentally-friendly mattresses on the market. 🌱

Nectar is also the UK's first 100% climate-neutral bed-in-a-box mattress.

    Environmentally-friendly materials

The foams used in the UK Nectar mattress are Certipur-certified.

This certifies that the foams do not contain harmful chemicals or gasses

The mattresses are also free from ozone depleters, heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates, and volatile organic compounds.

Nectar mattresses are fire retardant and comply with the UK fire regulation BS 7177 [8] code. 🔥

Finally, Nectar also uses FSC-approved packaging [9].

They only use forest products from well-managed forests and/or verified and recycled sources.

    Climate-neutral manufacturing

All Nectar products are manufactured in climate-neutral facilities [10].

They work with a leading green solutions organisation, ClimatePartner [11], to calculate their manufacturing carbon footprint and continually reduce this and offset the rest. 💦

To date, they've offset over 16 million kg of CO2 by supporting the Forest Protection Project in Santa Maria, Brazil.

    Re-using and recycling

To keep waste to a minimum, Nectar UK donates any old or returned mattresses to the British Heart Foundation [5].

If mattresses aren't in a good enough condition for donation, they're recycled instead.

Nectar relies on AnyJunk as its removal partner. ♻️

AnyJunk ensures that 96% of items collected are recycled and don't end up in a landfill.

  • What is the Nectar mattress lifetime guarantee?

Nectar mattresses come with a "forever warranty", meaning that your product is guaranteed for as long as you own it

The company believes that more attention should be paid to long-term quality, and they have specifically designed the Nectar mattress to outlast heavy long-term use.

Nectar's "forever warranty" is a unique feature. 🥰

Most industry-standard warranty periods run from 5 to 10 years.

Emma or Simba, both comparable mattress companies, for example, offer a 10-year guarantee.

Any damages from everyday use or impressions of 4 cm (1.5 inches) or more are covered.

Note, though, that the following are excluded:

    • Any mattress or mattress cover subject to misuse, neglect, accident or used in violation of instructions, including instructions to place the mattress on a proper bed frame.
    • An average increase in softness of the pressure-relieving material, which does not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the mattress.
    • Comfort preference.
    • Defects caused by physical abuse or damage to the structure and/or cover material, including, but not limited to, burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, or stains.
    • Mattresses or mattress covers sold as reconditioned, used, returned, previously owned, or any other similar wording indicating that the mattress or mattress cover is not new or of first quality or has previously been purchased or used by another consumer.

To return your mattress, contact Nectar directly via telephone, e-mail, or chatbot to get the process started, and they'll replace your old mattress.

Important: The mattress or cover will be replaced within the first 10 years. After 10 years, only the affected part will be repaired or replaced. The customer may also have to cover transport costs.
  • What are the other Nectar mattresses?

The Nectar mattress is the first Nectar Sleep mattress to be launched in the UK.

Since then, the company has added two more mattresses:

    • Nectar Hybrid mattress: The Nectar Hybrid [12] combines the foam comforts of the Nectar mattress with pocket springs for a more supportive and slightly more bouncy feel.
    • Nectar Premier: The Nectar premium mattress is similar to the original mattress, but has a total of 6 layers and a depth of 28 cm (11 inches).

All Nectar Sleep mattress reviews are generally favourable, though different mattresses will be better suited to different types of sleepers.

  • What bed frame should you choose for your Nectar mattress?

You can place your Nectar mattress on any bed frame, including platform beds, divans, and adjustable frames.

Nectar recommends that you do not put your mattress on the floor.

Pay attention to the distance between slats

We rarely recommend slatted bases for memory foam mattresses.

This is because slatted bases have gaps between the actual slats, and memory foam mattresses like the Nectar conform to this shape.

This leads to bumps and lumps in the long term.

But, you can use slatted bases if the slats aren't too far apart.

A maximum distance of 5 cm between slats is optimal.

    We wouldn't recommend deep frames

We'd also recommend not choosing a frame that's too deep.

Since the Nectar mattress doesn't have side handles, it's difficult to grip.

If your frame is too deep, it'll be even more difficult to grab hold of the mattress.

We had difficulty changing our bed sheets because of this.

    Nectar beds UK

In addition to the mattress and sleep accessories, Nectar also offers a few bed frames.

    The options include:

    • The classic Nectar platform bed frame.
    • The luxury Nectar bed frame with headboard.
    • The Nectar ottoman bed frame with storage facilities.

The Nectar bed frames go perfectly with your Nectar mattress.

Even better, opt for a bundle purchase, where you'll get a bed frame with your mattress.

We don't yet have any Nectar bed reviews live on Sleep Hero UK, but will be sure to add them as soon as we can!

  • Can I buy a Nectar mattress topper?

Unfortunately, Nectar UK does not sell a mattress topper.

If you're looking for a topper to make your firm mattress a tad softer and more comfortable, we could recommend the following:

    • Panda mattress topper: The Panda topper is a premium memory foam topper available at a budget price.
    • Simba Hybrid mattress topper: The Simba topper [13] features both foams and springs for a slightly more supportive feel.

You can also check out our guide on the best mattress toppers in the UK [14] for more recommendations.

We'll be sure to let you know as soon as a Nectar mattress topper UK is released!

  • Can you tell me more about Nectar Sleep?

Nectar is a start-up company first established in the USA in 2016.

The company launched in the UK in 2018.

Nectar Sleep reviews are largely favourable, as the company puts its customers first.

It aims to give consumers the most comfortable mattresses - at the most affordable prices.

By only selling online and cutting out all middlemen, Nectar can keep its prices competitive

The company uses high-quality materials and puts comfort at the heart of its design and manufacturing.

    Nectar also focuses on sustainability.

They manufacture their products in climate-neutral facilities and are certified to be free from harmful chemicals.

They also try to eliminate waste by donating any old or returned mattresses to charities.

Nectar Sleep also offers a wide range of bedding, bed frames, and bedroom furniture.

  • What does Nectar USA offer that Nectar UK doesn't?

If you've moved across the pond, you'll have noticed that there are a few items not available in the UK.

    These include

    • Nectar Premier Copper Mattress
    • Nectar Foundation Bed Frame
    • Nectar Adjustable Bed Frame
    • Nectar Metal Bed Frame
    • Serenity Sleep Weighted Blanket
    • Resident Serenity Sleep Quilt
    • Resident Pillow
    • Graphite Pillow
    • Premium Copper Pillow

But, it is likely that these items will enter the UK market as well.

Nectar Sleep UK used to sell the Cloverlane weighted blanket [15], but unfortunately this product is no longer available.
  • What payment options does Nectar offer?

You can buy your Nectar mattress through any of the following means:

    • Debit/credit card
    • Stripe
    • PayPal
    • Amazing Pay
    • SplitIt (a leading 0% monthly financing instalment plan service)

To make use of financing means, select the relevant option upon checkout.

  • Can I buy Nectar at Amazon?

Nectar products are not currently available on Amazon in the UK.

We would recommend buying directly from Nectar.

It's easy, and you're guaranteed to get the best price - we always have the best discount codes on Sleep Hero.

Buying directly also means that you'll have access to Nectar's customer support if you need it.

  • How long do Nectar mattresses last?

The Nectar mattress is designed to last you at least a decade - but it does come with a lifetime warranty.

We'd recommend replacing your mattress every 10 or so years to ensure optimal support.

  • Nectar mattress complaints

While we love the Nectar mattress, it certainly won't be suitable for everyone.

Below, we'll take you through some of the most common Nectar mattress complaints.

    Off-gassing issues

Memory foam products are known to emit a chemical odour when first unpacking.

The smell isn't toxic or harmful in any way, but it can be unpleasant. 🧪

Our recommendation is to unpack the Nectar mattress in a well-ventilated room and let it air out until the smell disappears.

    Not comfortable for heavier-weight sleepers

Even though the Nectar mattress weight limit is quite high, the mattress is likely to still be too soft for people of larger builds.

It is still a foam mattress, after all, and cannot give the support a spring mattress [2] can. 🌀

Too firm for very lightweight sleepers

Likewise, some customer reviews on TrustPilot have lamented that the Nectar mattress isn't soft enough.

This would happen for very lightweight sleepers. 👧

The Nectar mattress is best suited to average-weight sleepers, who will sink into the foams just enough without dropping down too much.

    Overheating issues

Memory foam is notorious for storing heat. 🥵

Even though the Nectar mattress has a dynamic cooling cover, it is still a memory foam mattress.

If you're a very hot sleeper or heavy sweater, we'd recommend you choose a pocket sprung mattress [16] instead.
