The Emma NextGen Cooling Mattress features 6 layers and has been designed with comfort, support, and advanced cooling in mind:

1. UltraDry™ breathable cover

This Emma NextGen Cooling mattress cover is designed to keep you fresh and dry.

It wicks away moisture, promotes airflow, and is easily removable and washable for added convenience.

2. Temperature-regulating foam

The ThermoSync™ foam layer is infused with graphite particles that actively capture and disperse excess body heat.

This helps maintain the ideal sleep temperature for longer, uninterrupted deep sleep.

3. Freshness-enhancing foam

This foam layer promotes enhanced airflow while gently cradling your body.

It delivers a comforting "full-body hug" that supports achy areas and relieves tension.

This is also a new layer that wasn't available in the NextGen Cooling's previous version, the Emma Luxe Cooling.

4. Adaptive memory foam

The Halo memory foam layer moulds to your body’s unique shape, ensuring targeted spinal alignment, superior pressure relief, and a truly personalised sleep experience.

5. Supportive pressure-relief foam

Providing exceptional support, this foam layer promotes proper spinal alignment and reduces pressure points, making every night a restorative experience.

6. Zoned pocket springs

The 7-zone pocket springs provide tailored support to every part of your body.

From your head to your feet, these springs adjust to ensure optimal alignment and comfort in all sleep positions.

It's worth noting that the only major difference between the NextGen Cooling and the previous version of the mattress, the Luxe Cooling, is an additional fresh foam layer for added softness and airflow.

What does sleeping on the Emma NextGen Cooling mattress feel like?

We haven't yet fully tested the Emma NextGen Cooling but we loved its predecessor, the Emma Luxe Cooling.

The previous mattress was one of the most comfortable Emma mattresses we've ever slept on, and the NextGen, as the upgraded version, promises to be just as luxurious.

How firm is the Emma NextGen Cooling mattress?

The Emma NextGen Cooling Mattress offers a medium firmness, making it suitable for a wide range of sleepers.

It strikes the perfect balance between plush comfort and firm support, ensuring pressure relief and proper alignment for side, back, and stomach sleepers alike.

Emma has rated it a 7.5 on their firmness scale, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest.

This makes it slightly firmer than many other mattresses, meaning it will be particularly well suited to those who enjoy firmer support, heavier-weight side sleepers, and back sleepers.

Does the Emma NextGen Cooling mattress sleep hot?

Like the Emma Luxe Cooling, the NextGen Cooling was designed with advanced cooling in mind:

  • It features an UltraDry™ cover and graphite-infused foam to actively prevent overheating, ensuring a refreshing night’s sleep even for hot sleepers.
  • The base is made of pocket springs, which creates additional ventilation channels and allows for better airflow, carrying heat and moisture away and keeping you cooler and more comfortable all night long.

Don't forget though that very hot sleepers or heavy sweaters may still be affected by the memory foam.

This is why we'd recommend trying the mattress during it's 200-night trial to see if it works for you.

We'd also recommend pairing it with a cooling duvet and cooling pillow if you're easily affected by temperature.

Is the Emma NextGen Cooling suitable for couples?

The mattress features impressive edge support, allowing sleepers to enjoy the entire surface without feeling like they might roll off - this makes it a great mattress for sex!

The high-density foam layers also effectively isolate motion, making it an excellent choice for couples.

You won’t be disturbed by your partner’s movements during the night.

If you're looking for a mattress that offers you excellent stability and support, some memory foam relief, and great temperature regulation features, the Emma NextGen Cooling will be a great go-to.

We’d recommend sticking to standard UK sizes as it’ll make finding suitable bed frames and bedding easier.

The Emma NextGen Cooling mattress has a height of 27 cm (10.6 inches).

This is a little above the bed-in-a-box standard - usually 25 cm (9.8 inches) - giving you that extra touch of luxury.

Your standard bedding will still fit comfortably though!
