These mattresses are very similar in terms of composition, even though the Casper Original has a slightly firmer feel than the Emma Original.
Casper vs Emma: Which mattress is best suited to you?
The Emma mattress and the Casper mattress are both excellent mattresses that offer exceptional pressure relief. 👌
But, they are also suited to slightly different types of people.
Let's take a closer look at this. 🧐
Emma Original: Excellent support for side sleepers
The Emma mattress is a fair bit softer than the Casper UK.
You'll immediately notice that you'll sink slightly deeper into Emma's foam layers. ⛰
This is great news for side sleepers, as it ensures optimal spinal alignment.
The Emma Original also has exceptional body-contouring support and orthopaedic qualities.
The one drawback of this body-hugging comfort is that moving around on the Emma mattress becomes a little more cumbersome. 💃
We wouldn't recommend the Emma Original for restless sleepers.
Conveniently, though, the Emma comes with a removable & machine-washable mattress cover. 🚿
Choose the Emma Original if you:
- Are a light- or average-weight sleeper.
- Want a mattress with orthopaedic properties.
- Sleep on your side.
- Prefer soft mattresses.
- Want a no-fuss mattress with a removable and machine-washable cover.
The Emma Original will be less suitable if you're of a larger build and a pure back or stomach sleeper, a heavier sweater, or a very restless sleeper.
Casper Original: Firmer feel & excellent breathability
The Casper mattress has a slightly firmer feel than the Emma Original.
Given its extra breathable AirSpace layer with thousands of tiny perforations, it also offers enhanced breathability that makes it better suited to hot sleepers. ❄️
The AirSpace layer also decreases the "sinking into the foams" feeling that's commonly associated with memory foam mattresses.
This means the Casper mattress is easier to move around and more comfortable for restless sleepers.
On the downside, the Casper mattress cover is not removable or machine-washable. 🛀
If you have a Casper, we'd recommend investing in a mattress protector to safeguard your mattress against stains, spills, dirt, and bacteria.
Choose the Casper Original if you:
- Are a light- or average-weight sleeper.
- Sleep on your side, back, or stomach.
- Prefer medium-firm mattresses.
- Are a restless sleeper.
- Need orthopaedic support.
- Easily feel hot at night.
- Want good edge support.

Casper v Emma price & size comparison
Since Casper mattress UK is no longer available, it's impossible to give an accurate size or price comparison.
Both of these mattresses, though, offer excellent value for money.
The Emma Original is available in all the standard UK mattress sizes. 🇬🇧
These include:
- Emma single mattress: 90 x 190 cm (3’ x 6’3”)
- Emma small double mattress: 120 x 190 cm (4' x 6'3")
- Emma double mattress: 135 x 190 cm (4’6” x 6’3”)

- Emma super-king-size mattress: 180 x 200 cm (6’ x 6’6”)
We'd recommend that couples choose a double-size mattress or a larger one, like the king or super-king size. 👑
People sleeping alone can choose any mattress size that fits their budget and bedroom size.
You can consult our mattress size guide for more help in choosing the best mattress size.
The right mattress accessories
You'll probably want some great sleep accessories to kit out your bedroom. 🛌
Both Emma and Casper offer fantastic sleep accessories.
Conveniently, Amazon UK still sells some Casper products, like mattress protectors, sheets, duvets, and weighted blankets.
Why not try a high-quality pillow?
How do the Casper and Emma delivery conditions & trial periods differ?
Delivery conditions on Casper mattress UK are no longer valid as the mattress is no longer commercially available in the UK.
But, the Emma mattress comes with the following delivery conditions:
- Free delivery & returns
- Bed-in-a-box convenience
- 200-night trial period
- 10-year guarantee
Both the Casper and the Emma mattresses are bed-in-a-box products. 📦
This means that they're delivered rolled-up and vacuum-packed in a cardboard box.
Don't worry: The mattresses return back to their full size as soon as the vacuum wrapping is removed.
You may notice an odd chemical smell - called off-gassing - when you first unpack the mattresses.
This is completely normal.
Off-gassing is neither harmful nor toxic, and the smell disappears quite quickly. 🏠
