Simba suggests using all three pillow layers if you're a side sleeper, but your overall comfort will also depend on a few other factors, like your body shape and firmness preference.
Our tests showed that you may sleep better with just two layers in the side sleeping position, since this lower loft stops your neck from tilting up too far.
We'd recommend side sleepers opt for the firmer Aerocoil layer to sleep on, but you can also opt for the softer microfibre layer if you prefer.

How firm is the Simba Hybrid Firm pillow?

But you can adjust the firmness and loft to suit your needs.
You can use the firm Aerocoil side at the top, or flip the pillow over to use the soft microfibre side for a down-like feel.
The firmness you need depends on your preferences, body shape, and preferred sleeping position.
- Your neck should stay straight and in line with your spine when you sleep.
- If your neck feels strained, try removing a layer or flipping the pillow for a softer feel.
When you first use the pillow, we suggest you lie on it for ten minutes to check if the firmness and loft fit before you drift off to sleep. 😴

Despite also being fully adjustable, the Simba Hybrid Firm pillow has a wholly different design than the original Simba Hybrid pillow, with microfibre and firm mini pocket springs instead of Nanocube foam.

Simba Hybrid Firm pillow cover
The hypoallergenic Simba Hybrid Firm pillow cover is crafted from eco-friendly cotton sourced via the Better Cotton Initiative [1].
This initiative is aimed at promoting sustainability by reducing the environmental impact of cotton production. 🌿
The cover has a few unique features:
- It feels soft and very high quality.
- The stylish hexagon pattern adds a premium touch.
- The breathable mesh border allows excess heat to escape for a cooler night's sleep.
It's worth noting, though, that the blue-grey border will shine through most white pillowcases.
While overall we felt the Simba Hybrid Firm pillow cover was of exceptional quality, we did encounter a slight hiccup - the zipper broke as we tried to remove the cover!
This was disappointing for such a premium product, but we understand that occasional issues can occur.
Thankfully, the 1-year guarantee covers faults like this!
Simba Renew layers
The two Simba Renew pillow layers are filled with super-soft microfibre, giving a luxurious feather and down-like feel.
This provides a soft, cosy surface that gently cushions the head and shoulders.
Since the Simba Hybrid Firm pillow is dual-sided, you can sleep on this soft side or the firmer Aerocoil layer.
During our testing, we preferred sleeping with the microfibre layer at the top for a softer and squishier feel.
Aerocoil layer
The Aerocoil firm layer combines Aerocoil springs and Simba Pure foam for optimum support. ✨

We were very impressed with this layer - it's one of the most advanced features we've seen in a pillow to date!

Can the Simba Hybrid Firm pillow be washed?

- Spring pad: Sponge clean only
